Dear SSDP Families,
As part of our continued commitment to student safety, we are implementing an enhanced check-in process for large daytime, schoolwide events, beginning with our Boosterthon Fun Run on Friday, September 11.
We know large events can create long lines at the front office as visitors complete the required identification and security screening. Our new process will allow School Board Approved Volunteers to complete that screening in advance and use an expedited check-in process for major schoolwide events.
Think of it as our SSDP “Fast Pass!”
How It Works
If you are a School Board Approved Volunteer, you will be able to RSVP electronically before designated schoolwide events. Our front office staff will verify your volunteer status and pre-print your visitor badge.
On the day of the event, simply bring your state-issued photo ID, stop by the designated area in our main lobby or other separate sign in area to receive your pre-printed badge, and head to the event.
You do NOT have to actually volunteer or work at the event to use this option. Completing a volunteer application allows us to conduct the required background screening ahead of time. You are welcome to complete the application simply because you anticipate attending daytime school events this year.
🚨 Want to be approved before the September 11 Fun Run? Apply ASAP!
Our next School Board meeting is Thursday, September 10, and our school must submit the list of screened applicants to the district by Tuesday, September 1.
Because our staff must have time to process and screen each application before submitting names to the district, we strongly encourage families to submit applications by Wednesday, August 26. Applications received after August 26 may not receive School Board approval until the October meeting.
Download the Volunteer Application:
https://5il.co/33ezp
Completed applications may be sent to school with your child, dropped off at the SSDP front office, or emailed to our school secretary, Ms. Shannon Pritt, at PrittS@santarosa.k12.fl.us.
Please remember that volunteer applications must be renewed every school year at each school where you wish to volunteer. If you completed an application last year, you will need to submit a new one for the 2026–27 school year.
What if I'm not an approved volunteer?
You are still welcome to attend! This new process does not limit attendance at our schoolwide events to approved volunteers.
Visitors who are not approved volunteers, or approved volunteers who did not RSVP in advance, will simply enter through the front office and complete our standard visitor check-in process. This includes presenting and scanning a state-issued photo ID and completing the required security screening.
Fun Run RSVP
We will send the Boosterthon Fun Run RSVP link on Tuesday, September 1 via Facebook, email, and Rooms.
The RSVP will allow approved volunteers to let us know they plan to attend so our staff can verify their status and prepare their badge before the event. RSVPing does not mean you are signing up to work or volunteer at the Fun Run.
Please review the attached graphics for additional details and answers to frequently asked questions. Additional questions about this policy and process can be directed to Mrs. Felins at FelinsL@santarosa.k12.fl.us
We are grateful for our families' partnership as we work to keep SSDP safe, secure, and welcoming for everyone. We love having our families on campus and hope this new process makes attending our special schoolwide events both safer and easier!
Thank you,
S.S. Dixon Primary School

While our morning car rider line typically improves during the second week of school, we continue to observe issues that can be resolved by drivers following established procedures.
Please remember these requirements:
- Enter the car line from the designated direction only (refer to the entry map in the SSDP Family Guide)
- Wait your turn in line without cutting ahead
- Remain in your vehicle at all times
- Do not pass other vehicles while students are exiting
- Do not park and walk your child in (only exception: PreK)
Our car rider system has been refined over decades and functions efficiently when procedures are followed. We ask for your patience and cooperation during busy morning hours.
Important reminders:
If your child arrives late, please take responsibility for your timing.
Bus transportation is available as an alternative option if you are unhappy with our processes.
Our resource officer's presence should not be necessary to manage adult behaviors at the four way stop.
We appreciate your adherence to these guidelines and your respect for the safety of all students and families. Following these procedures ensures a smooth, safe start to each school day.
For questions, please contact Mrs. White.

SSDP Parents and Guardians,
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, school administration is requesting that a parent or guardian be present at your child's afternoon bus stop when they are dropped off each day. This practice helps us confirm that each child safely exits the bus at the correct stop and is met by a responsible adult. Your presence at the bus stop provides an additional layer of security and peace of mind for everyone involved.
Please make arrangements to be at your child's designated bus stop during their scheduled drop-off time. If you are unable to be there personally, please designate another trusted adult to meet your child.
As a reminder, this is a REQUIREMENT for all kindergarten students. Kindergarten students who arrive at their stop without a parent/guardian present will not be permitted to exit the bus and will be brought back to SSDP.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping our students safe.
Mrs. White
Reminder- Meet the Teacher/Supply Drop Off is August 6th! See you then!

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of the 2025-2026 school year!
As we reflect on this wonderful school year, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. It has been an absolute joy to serve the Primary Patriot community, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with your families. This year has been filled with remarkable moments of growth and achievement. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments our students have demonstrated—from academic milestones to social-emotional development and everything in between. Watching your children learn, grow, and flourish has been truly inspiring. The progress they've made in their confidence, kindness, collaboration, and learning is a testament to our talented teachers and support staff serving our students, each students' hard work and your unwavering support at home.
None of this would have been possible without you. Your partnership, encouragement, and involvement have made a meaningful difference in our students' lives and in the life of our school community. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being such an integral part of the Primary Patriot family.
**Please be sure to follow us on Facebook** for important reminders, updates, and announcements as we prepare for next school year.
Just a few final reminders-

*Don't forget to pick up any medications from the clinic
*Report cards will be sent home with all students tomorrow
*Please return any library books to the Media Center
*Reminder to take a quick look at your child's lunch balance, any credits will roll over to the next year. If you owe a balance, it can be made through my School Bucks
*Our Title I Survey B results are posted to our website, feel free to view and we welcome any and all feedback to best support our students
*We will be working on our School Improvement Plan over the summer, if you have ideas or suggestions to promote student achievement, please reach out!
As we head into the summer, we hope your families enjoy well-deserved rest and relaxation. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back in the fall for another exciting year of learning and growth!
Have the BEST summer,
Mrs. White and Mrs. Hendricks
If your child has any medications in the clinic, they must be picked up by 12 pm on May 28th. Thank you!
This is Jennifer Hendricks with SSDP with an important message for parents and families. We are conducting a lockdown drill at school today as part of our regular emergency drill process as required by state law. We know that drills can cause possible concerns for our students, but we believe it’s important for them to know exactly what to do in an emergency and these practice drills enhance their safety. Again, all students are safe, and this is simply a required lockdown drill. Thank you for your understanding and support
Thanks,
Mrs. Hendricks,
Asst Principal
This is a friendly reminder that we do not allow parents to walk students into the building or up the sidewalk to the front door. The only parents who have permission to bring students in the building are our PreK parents. Stopping traffic for parents to walk their children in creates a delay in the car rider line. We want to be respectful of everyone's time and we also want parents to be respectful of our school policies.
Thank you,
Mrs. White
Hello Parents,
Kona Ice is coming on 05/15/26. We are using an online payment system to simplify the process and make things easier on our staff. Please copy and paste the link into your browser to pay.
Event Link:
https://customer.kona-ice.com/#/K2494519536
- Please have your order in by 05/13/26!!!!
- If you have any questions about the prepay system contact guynfrank@kona-ice.com. We encourage you to not send cash. Pay online! It's super easy! (Of course, we will accept cash at the truck, but paying online eliminates the possibility of your child losing the money before they get to school.)
Way to go, partners!
The S.S. Dixon Primary PTO would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our entire school community. There will be a PTO Elections Meeting this Wednesday, April 15th, at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to learn about the PTO, express interest in joining the board, and get firsthand information about becoming a member for the 2026–2027 school year. We will also be sharing all open positions for the upcoming year.
We encourage all parents to attend and get involved.
